David Johnson has worked as Safety Officer for the City of Bryan, Texas in the Risk Management Department since 1993. His duties include safety, environmental, training, disaster recovery, and fleet/liability investigations for a workforce of 800 employees. This diversified workforce includes public works, fire, police, EMS, two power plants, and 200 miles of transmission lines.
He has been involved in the field of safety since 1972 in construction and management. He holds a BS from Texas A&M, a certificate in Corrective Therapy from Texas A&M and the Veterans Administration Hospital Houston. Johnson is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He also has a CUSA certification from the National Safety Council with a specialty in water utilities.
He is the safety officer on the City of Bryan Hazard Materials Emergency Response Team and the HAZWOPER Incident Commander for city remediation tasks.
